Playa del Inglés enjoys the accolade of being Gran Canaria's liveliest resort. Situated in the south of the island this vacation destination is home to an infinite number of bars, restaurants and pubs and delights in its seemingly never-ending nightlife. This pursuit of fun and excitement continues through the day with a whole host of sporting activities to suit every taste. There are also a large number of beautiful beaches in the vicinity of the town including the gorgeous Playa de las Burras and the awesome Playa de Maspalomas.
Around the area known as Oasis Maspalomas lie the large luxury hotels, which extend along the promenade as far as Playa de Meloneras an exclusive developing residential area with a 5-star hotel, upmarket shops and a golf course.
This modern, purpose-built resort consists of a number of pleasant villa and apartment complexes built on the rugged hillsides overlooking the fishing port. There are a couple of glorious beaches that offer a range water sports and aquatic activities and the town itself has a wide selection of bars, restaurants and shops for you to enjoy. Although the resort itself is very steep the port area is ideal for an evening stroll through the park and past the charming lido and crescent shaped beach.
This picturesque fishing port, although not very well known, is dedicated to tourism but in a different way than the other bustling beach resorts like Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas. The waterfront, a purpose built holiday resort, has buildings not higher than two to three floors and was expanded into a traffic-free village with colourful houses designed in Mediterranean style. These houses give way to narrow alleys, all of them prettily lined with small gardens and window boxes planted with flowers, mostly bougainvilleas, in all colours. Puerto de Mogán also boasts a net of pretty sea-water channels – from which this port also holds its epithet ‘Spanish little Venice’ – linking with promenades and small bridges, making a stroll around this port very pleasant. The attractive yacht marina with its neat and tidy restaurants, stylish cafés, restaurants, jazz and piano bars surrounding the local fishing fleet, which is still operating, is the perfect location for an evening stroll and of course – a romantic sunset dinner.
